Is that possible with Reaper and its plugins? I would greatly like to have them all in one folder, in one place. Right now I have plugins scattered all over my Program and Program (x86) folders. One thing I need to get straight on and perhaps I could additionally avail myself of your extensive knowledge base - I am utterly and totally confused as to where I should put my plugins when I purchase/install them.

Your educated feedback regarding all this 32 bit plugins vs 64 bit Reaper DAW stuff would be greatly appreciated. And as you suggest, that may correct my ST3 "American Acoustic" issues as well. If I can get around this possible 32 bit system plugins not working well issue, I'll be upgraded into 64 bit Reaper before nightfall that same day.

and download my purchases again as 64 bit plugins (if that becomes necessary). Perhaps I can get with the folks from Toontrack, Waves, Ample Sound, etc. (This may or may not be true, I did no further investigation after reading that claim.)Īs I am heavily invested in 32 bit plugins (EZ Drummer2, Superior Drummer, EZ Keys, Nectar 2, several recent Waves plugin collections, a few of Ample Sound's Virtual guitars, etc., I'm super-screwed if they refuse to play nice with 64 bit Reaper. (Keep in mind that I'm not the sharpest knife in the Reaper drawer.) I heard quite a while back that if I did move up to 64 bit Reaper, my 32 bit plugins (which are about all my plugins) would not work or would work poorly in 64 bit Reaper. I've been thinking of moving up to Reaper 64 bit for quite a spell now. I know you suggest this mainly as a diagnostic attempt, but I'm getting no interactions between Reaper and standalone Sampletank 3. To be honest, my primary interest is using ST3 as a plugin within Reaper. I see no other way to import a MIDI segment into Reaper from ST3 either - but that doesn't mean there isn't one. I thought maybe if I opened an instance of Reaper and also an instance of ST3 I could cross-drag my ST3 MIDI segments into the Reaper timeline - but unfortunately that does not seem to be an option. On to your question: Yes, I can open ST3 standalone and make all the instruments and patterns work, but I can find no way to drag my ST3 MIDI segments into Reaper to line them up for an attempted playback. ST3 works fine for my limitations as I can create a strum, assign the key that individual MIDI segment is to be in - and then drag it into my Reaper's ST3 track timeline. My MIDI use is limited to plugging notes and chords into the piano roll. (Given enough time, I can find middle C and that's about it for me). I am also NOT a keyboard player by any definition.

  • As to running Sampletank 3 in the standalone mode: first, I must admit that I am new to MIDI and am quite dim regarding most aspects.
  • Yes, my VST "clear cache/rescan" folders are also correct.
  • Yes all of my Reaper VST options are checked in Reaper.
  • Hello DarkStar, thanks for being an on-going source of help/information. Ik addons not with reaper deleted the problem plugins, there are issues mine with the mic emulator The IK guys say this should pose no problem.

I'm running 32 bit Reaper on a PC Windows Home Premium 64 bit machine. Is anyone else having problems with IK's add-ons (especially "American Acoustic") not functioning in an otherwise well-functioning Sampletank 3 used as a plugin within Reaper? So the option of trying them as a fix has not come to fruition. I did that, then I ran the "Clear Cache/rescan option" in VST options - but Sampletank 3 still fails to show up as a VST3 or VST3i option when I'm loading a virtual instrument. IK had me be sure to place the Sampletank 3 VST3 file in the C:/Program/Common/VST folder in both my Program and Program (x86) folders. It only comes up in the VSTi or Instrument tabs. But I do not get Sampletank 3 as a VST3 or VST3i option in my Reaper. One suggestion IK made was that I attempt to run ST3 in either the the VST3 or VST3i mode.

Sampletank 3 is dead in the water at that point however. When ST3 crashes, Reaper and ST3 both freeze momentarily, then Reaper comes back to life just fine. Once it played for almost 20 seconds before crashing (my world record distance to this point). When I switch to "American Acoustics" within ST3 and attempt to create a guitar strum or finger picking pattern, when I hit play it usually crashes within 4-6 bars.

I can use the Sampletank 3 instruments and patterns just fine - all day long with no crashes. (I'm having no problems recreating it on my end!) IK says they cannot recreate the problem on their end. After almost daily contact with IK Tech Support for the last couple of weeks, our lack of success with this problem prompted them to suggest I see if any other Reaper folks have had this issue. I recently bought Sampletank 3 - mainly for the "American Acoustic" guitar add-on that IK offers for Sampletank 3.
